Split Sheets

The Library exports collaborator and track metadata in supported split-sheet formats. Review the exported data and the recipient’s requirements before using it for registration or legal documentation.

Open the Export Splits Dialog

Open the split-sheet dialog from the Tracks toolbar. It supports Google Sheets and Excel destinations, with Entire Library as the default scope. When opened from a bucket, Current Bucket is also available.

The dialog shows saved Google Sheet connection/sync state, including an in-dialog reconnect action when reconnecting Google Sheets is required. It also reports skipped shared tracks and whether shared-track inclusion is enabled.

Choosing Your Export Format

Different recipients expect different formats. The dialog supports three current formats.

Kobalt Onboard Sheet

The Kobalt format creates one row per composer per song with 19 columns matching their exact template. This is ideal if you’re working with Kobalt Music Group or a publisher that uses Kobalt’s systems.

Each row includes the composer name, IPI number, society affiliation, share percentage, publisher details, and whether the publisher is controlled. If a song has three writers, you’ll get three separate rows for that song.

Musicbed Onboard Sheet

Musicbed uses a consolidated format where each song takes one row, with multiple owners joined by ” / ” separators. The template splits into two sections: track data on the left (BPM, key, lyrical themes) and owner contact details on the right.

This format is useful when you need to submit a clean overview to Musicbed or a similar platform that wants consolidated song data with owner breakdowns.

Generic Split Sheet

The generic format is your everyday workhorse. It creates a row for each collaborator on each song, including all the key fields: song title, ISWC, ISRC, duration, language, writer role, master split, publishing split, and publisher details.

This format works well for internal records, distributor submissions, or sending to any partner who doesn’t require a specific template.

Keeping a Sheet Current

For Google Sheets, The Library updates the same managed spreadsheet after its first creation. It updates its managed tabs while preserving user-managed tabs such as Manual Notes. Header rows are frozen and the sheet retains basic readable formatting.

Tips

Choose the scope deliberately — Entire Library and Current Bucket are different export scopes.
Review skipped-track feedback — shared tracks can be omitted when their export permission is not available.
Check source metadata — formats use stored track and collaborator data; correct inaccurate values before sharing an export.
