Pricing Your Beats
Use The Library to set default license-type prices and per-track enabled-license prices. Pricing suggestions in this article are editorial advice, not a product or legal guarantee.
How Licensing Works
Section titled “How Licensing Works”The licensing system revolves around three interconnected pieces:
License Types are reusable configurations stored in Settings. They include a name, description, price, currency, deliverables, and optional terms text.
Track Licensing lets you assign specific license types to each beat. You can use your default pricing or override it per-track for maximum flexibility.
Purchase Flow is documented separately. It requires a valid checkout path and verified payment completion before download delivery is enabled.
Creating License Types
Section titled “Creating License Types”License types define what artists get when they buy from you. Think of them as product tiers — each one can include different files, rights, and pricing.
What Makes Up a License Type
Section titled “What Makes Up a License Type”When creating a license type, you configure:
- Name — How it appears to buyers (e.g., “Basic Lease,” “Premium Lease,” “Exclusive Rights”)
- Price — Your asking price in your preferred currency
- Description — A brief summary buyers see
- Deliverables — Which files are included (MP3, WAV, Stems, Track-outs)
- Exclusive flag — a configuration value for the license type
- License terms — optional text configured by the seller
Using Templates
Section titled “Using Templates”The Library includes predefined templates as starting configuration data:
- Non-Exclusive Lease
- Premium Lease
- Exclusive Rights
- Sync License
You can add templates as-is or customize them to match your business model. Any changes you make only affect that specific license type going forward.
Managing Your Licenses
Section titled “Managing Your Licenses”Each license type shows its configured name, deliverables, price, and status. You can update it or request deletion.
If a license has existing purchases, you can’t delete it — but you can mark it as Inactive to hide it from new buyers while keeping the purchase records intact.
Enabling Licensing for Your Tracks
Section titled “Enabling Licensing for Your Tracks”With your license types ready, you can now apply them to your beats.
Assigning Licenses to Tracks
Section titled “Assigning Licenses to Tracks”The marketing widget lets you configure licensing for individual tracks. Open any track and access the widget to:
- Toggle Licensing Enabled on
- Select which license types should be available
- Set individual prices for each license (or use your defaults)
- Save your changes
When licensing is enabled, a Buy or License button appears on your public track page, giving artists a direct path to purchase.
Per-Track Customization
Section titled “Per-Track Customization”You might want to price the same license differently across tracks. Maybe your viral hit deserves a higher exclusive price than your newer releases. Per-track pricing lets you override your default prices without changing your base templates.
How Purchases Work
Section titled “How Purchases Work”For checkout and file-delivery behavior, see Purchase Flow. The product only enables the completed purchase flow after its verified Stripe webhook transitions a pending purchase to completed.
Getting Started Checklist
Section titled “Getting Started Checklist”Before launching your beat store, make sure you’ve completed:
- Created at least one license type
- Assigned licenses to the tracks you want to sell
- Reviewed each enabled license and per-track price
- Start with templates — The pre-built license types give you a solid foundation to customize rather than building from scratch.
- Review enabled licenses — check their price and deliverables on each track where they are enabled.
- Keep price advice separate from product behavior — the configured price is application data; the business decision remains yours.
