Quick Start
After you sign in or activate a subscription in the desktop app, The Library restores your saved onboarding step. While that status is loading, the setup steps remain hidden rather than guessing where you should resume.
1. Complete your profile
Section titled “1. Complete your profile”Enter a name with at least two characters. You may add an avatar, but the profile step is complete only after the app saves the profile successfully.
2. Choose one storage option
Section titled “2. Choose one storage option”The Storage step presents two equally weighted, mutually exclusive choices:
- Use Dropbox uses the detected
Dropbox/THE-LIBRARYfolder on this computer. It does not open a folder picker. - Choose a local folder opens the native folder picker. Your local path stays on this device; the server records only that local storage was confirmed, not the path itself.
The app does not select either option automatically. If the selected option fails or you cancel the local picker, Storage remains incomplete. A successful choice advances directly to Collaborators; you do not choose a local folder and then choose Dropbox during onboarding.
3. Add collaborators or skip
Section titled “3. Add collaborators or skip”Add regular collaborators with a name and email address, or explicitly skip this optional step. Onboarding collaborators are saved to your central roster; they are not assigned to tracks, splits, permissions, buckets, or shares during setup.
When every required setup marker is complete, The Library can finish onboarding. If the app cannot load your saved status, use the retryable error state rather than assuming a step is complete.
