Playlist Sharing

Playlist sharing lets you bundle multiple tracks into a single shareable link. Instead of sharing songs one by one, you can create a cohesive collection — perfect for sending demos to collaborators, sharing a release preview with your team, or distributing a curated playlist to fans.

Playlist shares store the selected tracks, selected files, final order, optional password/expiry, and configured download permissions. Recipients see only the stored selection.

How It Works

Playlist sharing creates a unique URL that anyone can access without needing a Library account. The link displays your tracks in a listener-friendly interface — artwork, song names, BPM, key, and waveform visualizations — along with any download options you’ve enabled.

Behind the scenes, your files are served securely through Dropbox. You’ll need to connect your Dropbox account in Settings before creating share links. Once connected, you can share files without exposing your Dropbox credentials to recipients.

Creating a Playlist Share

To start sharing, select one or more tracks in your grid, then click the Share button in the toolbar. The playlist share modal opens, ready for you to configure your share.

Selecting Your Tracks

When you open the modal, it includes the tracks you selected. Playlist sharing supports up to 10,000 selected tracks as a safety ceiling; do not treat a 50-track limit as a product rule. The modal keeps the final selected order as canonical track-group IDs.

For owner-facing file selection, the share dialog prefers the current Files-widget local filesystem snapshot. Stored database or Dropbox-relative paths can be used for delivery when no local snapshot exists, but they are not proof that the local filesystem is ready.

Naming Your Playlist

At the top of the modal, you’ll see a Playlist Name field. By default, it uses the single track’s name if you selected just one, or “X Tracks” if you selected multiple. Feel free to rename it to something more meaningful — this name appears as the page title when recipients open your share link.

Setting Permissions

The permissions section controls what recipients can access on your share page. You have three options to toggle:

  • Bounces — the final mixed-down audio files (WAV, MP3, stems out, and so on)
  • Stems — individual instrument or vocal tracks separated out
  • Projects — your DAW project files (Ableton, Logic, FL Studio, Pro Tools, and others)

Enable only the file types you intend to deliver. The download endpoints reject a requested file type, track, or path that is not allowed by the stored share.

Setting an Expiration Date

Set an expiration when the playlist link should stop working after a specific date. An expired link returns an unavailable response instead of playlist data.

When a share expires, recipients see a message indicating the link is no longer active. You can always create a new share link with the same tracks if needed.

Viewing Share Settings

Before creating your link, the modal shows a summary of your settings:

  • Files available — a breakdown of bounces, stems, and projects found across all tracks
  • Download permissions — which file types are enabled
  • Expiration — when the link will stop working (or “Never” if no expiration is set)

You can adjust any of these settings before generating the link.

When you’re satisfied with your settings, click Create Share Link. The system generates a unique URL and displays it in the modal. You can:

  • Copy the link to your clipboard
  • Open the share page in a new tab to preview what recipients will see

The link is ready to share via email, social media, or direct message.

Managing Your Shares

Playlist owner actions explicitly support opening, copying, and deleting the playlist share. A deleted playlist link is no longer available through its token.
