Pinning Comments

When you’re deep in a mix revision or waiting on a sample clearance, important comments can easily get buried under newer activity. Pinning lets you surface critical feedback so it stays visible regardless of when it was posted.

What Pinned Comments Do

Pinned comments render before unpinned comments in the comment list. Pin state belongs to the comment, while a comment can retain its own track or bounce context.

This is especially useful for:

Action items that need follow-up before the next revision
Approval requests for key decisions like mastering style or arrangement changes
Resolved notes you want to preserve for reference while continuing the conversation below
Priority flags marking which feedback is most urgent

Pinned status belongs to the comment itself, not to the bounce. If you pin a comment on one bounce version, it won’t appear on other versions of the same track.

Who Can Pin Comments

Pinning or unpinning requires a collaborator row for the track group with master_split > 0.

If you do not have that qualifying collaborator row, the pin operation is rejected.

If you don’t see pin controls and believe you should have access, check your collaboration settings or reach out to the track owner to confirm your rights level.

Open the Comments widget in the activity panel
Find the comment you want to pin
Use its pin control
The comment is rendered before unpinned comments

Unpinning a Comment

Find the pinned comment
Use the pin control again to remove the pinned state

Pinning and unpinning are instant. The comment’s position updates immediately without needing to refresh the panel.

Pinning and File Context

Pinning changes only the comment’s pinned state. It does not promise file recovery or comment relinking when a bounce is renamed, moved, or deleted.

Viewing Pinned Comments on Shared Tracks

When collaborating with others on a shared project, pinned comments are visible to anyone with access to that track group. This makes them a useful coordination tool.

If you’re collaborating on a track and see pinned comments you did not create, their author has marked them as pinned. Their visibility does not grant you permission to change them.

You can only pin or unpin comments yourself if you hold master split rights on that track group. As a contributing collaborator without those rights, you can still see pinned comments but won’t see the pin controls.
