Playing & Previewing
The floating audio player sits at the bottom of your screen, ready whenever you want to listen to a track. It appears automatically when you start playing any song from your library, giving you quick access to playback controls without leaving the page you’re on.
Opening the Player
Section titled “Opening the Player”The player activates when you click the play button on any track in your grid or playlist. Once playing, the player slides up from the bottom of the screen and stays visible as you navigate through different sections of the app.
You can close the player by clicking the X button in the top-right corner of the player bar. Closing the player stops playback entirely. Clicking play on another track will reopen it immediately.
Playback Controls
Section titled “Playback Controls”The center section of the player houses your main transport controls.
Play and Pause
Section titled “Play and Pause”The large circular button in the middle is your play/pause toggle. Click it once to pause playback — the icon changes from a triangle (play) to two parallel bars (pause). Click again to resume from where you left off.
Skipping Tracks
Section titled “Skipping Tracks”Use the Previous (left-pointing triangle) and Next (right-pointing triangle) buttons to jump between tracks. Clicking Previous takes you to the start of the current track if you’ve already listened for more than a few seconds, or to the previous track if you’re near the beginning.
Next jumps to the next track in your current queue or playlist. When you reach the last track, playback stops unless you’ve enabled repeat mode.
Progress and Seeking
Section titled “Progress and Seeking”Below the transport buttons sits a horizontal progress bar with time markers on each end.
Time Display
Section titled “Time Display”- Current time — the elapsed time of the track, shown on the left
- Total duration — the full length of the track, shown on the right
Both update in real-time as playback progresses.
Scrubbing
Section titled “Scrubbing”Click and drag the slider thumb along the progress bar to jump to any point in the track. This is useful for checking a specific section without listening through the entire song. Release the slider to start playback from that position.
Volume Control
Section titled “Volume Control”The right side of the player gives you control over audio output.
Adjusting Volume
Section titled “Adjusting Volume”Drag the volume slider left to lower the volume or right to increase it. The slider ranges from 0 (silent) to 100 (maximum volume).
Muting
Section titled “Muting”Click the speaker icon to mute your audio instantly. Click it again to restore your previous volume level. The icon changes to indicate when muted — look for the slash through the speaker.
Track Information
Section titled “Track Information”The left section of the player displays information about the currently playing track.
Now Playing Details
Section titled “Now Playing Details”You can see:
- Track artwork — a colored square on the left showing the track’s album art or a generated gradient if no artwork is set
- Track name — displayed below the artwork, truncated if it’s long
- Artist or project — shown in a smaller text below the track name
Adding to Favorites
Section titled “Adding to Favorites”Click the heart icon next to the track name to mark the track as a favorite. This adds it to your favorites collection and helps you quickly identify tracks you love when sorting or filtering your library.
Queue Management
Section titled “Queue Management”Click the queue icon on the right side of the player to view your upcoming tracks. This opens a panel showing what’s currently queued for playback after the current track finishes.
From the queue panel, you can see the list of upcoming tracks and their positions. The queue builds automatically based on your current view (playlist, album, or search results) or from tracks you’ve explicitly added.
Playback Modes
Section titled “Playback Modes”The player includes toggleable playback modes to customize how tracks play.
Shuffle
Section titled “Shuffle”The shuffle icon (two crossing arrows) randomizes the playback order. When enabled, tracks play in a shuffled sequence rather than in their listed order. Click again to disable shuffle and return to sequential playback.
Repeat
Section titled “Repeat”The repeat icon (two arrows pointing in the same direction) cycles through repeat modes. Click to toggle between:
- Off — playback stops after the current track
- Repeat all — the queue loops back to the first track after the last one finishes
Playing from Different Sources
Section titled “Playing from Different Sources”The player works seamlessly whether your audio files are stored locally or in your connected Dropbox account.
When you play a track that exists in Dropbox, the app fetches a temporary download link automatically. You don’t need to manually download files — just click play and the track streams to your player within seconds.
For local files, playback starts immediately without any network request.
- Multi-task while listening — keep the player open as you browse your library, edit track details, or manage collaborators
- Preview before committing — use the seek slider to jump to the chorus or bridge section when deciding if a track fits your session
- Keyboard shortcuts save time — master the spacebar control to avoid reaching for your mouse during active listening sessions
- Volume remembers settings — your volume level persists between sessions, so you don’t need to re-adjust each time
